For far too long our collective voice has been reduced to a whisper our cries for help ignored by the very people advocating change Time and again what begins with such promise leaves us wanting more but there is only one thing more powerful than a whisper determined to step from the shadows and be recognized as the truth A man or woman willing to embrace it Rosa Parks embraced a whisper stepping from the shadows as she stood for the truth John F Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. embraced a whisper stepping from the shadows as they stood for the truth Desmond Tutu and Nelson Mandela embraced a whisper stepping from the shadows as they stood for the truth And now YOU one by one step from the shadows a whisper dripping from your lips as a common man hears your simple message and embraces the truth it's time for a new generation to step forward It's time for Change He stands before you as if looking in a mirror his words loud and clear YOU are the change that we've been waiting for And as long as we continue to pray as long as we hold on to what we believe and are determined to fight for that which we will not compromise hope is not lost The opportunity for change will always exist the question is will this be a moment of true transformation or simply a momentary shift in our thinking it takes courage to accept the challenge ahead To embrace the very thing that creates fear in the hearts of timid men yet becomes a blessing to those courageous enough to die if necessary, fighting for what we believe fighting for something better than what currently exists We all know change is not without sacrifice but we have the opportunity to finally realize the potential of a TRULY UNITED STATES of AMERICA by embracing the wisdom of this one simple truth... YOU are the change we've been waiting for YOU are the leader we've been looking for no longer alone no longer hiding in the shadows your truth, our truth will once again fortify this nation As we stand on the precipice of history the revelation is not that we stand together but that we move forward as one one voice one people one nation courageous enough to challenge the very foundation of our existence wise enough to recognize that when the least of us steps from the shadows it only takes a whisper to break the silence and in that moment we the people personify the audacity of hope E Pluribus Unum Out of Many... ONE And the chorus of a nation rings out.. Yes We Can! It rings from hills of Napa Valley to the beaches on Martha's Vineyard YES WE CAN It rings from the silent factories of Michigan to the Lower 9th Ward in Louisiana YES WE CAN It rings from fevered pitch of Wall Street to quiet concern on Main Street YES WE CAN It rings around the world and back again as we begin the march toward healing our hearts and minds revealing our true fears and feelings accepting our differences and beginning to move beyond our past YES WE CAN At long last we have come out of the wilderness ready to leave the hatred that separates us behind but it will take us all to finish what has been started You can see the divine fingerprint on this master plan for when the journey began few people even believed such a victory possible yet here we stand one nation one people one voice Echoing one verse YES WE CAN! A "Uni-Verse" recognized as the truth We are the change we've been looking for and as we the people collectively step from the shadows looking for a new start there is no challenge too big as long as we believe in each other E Pluribus Unum. . .
